i can’t help but wonder if the designer questioned him or herself….  ie: 
“do you think these stools are too small?” or
“does the giant scale of this mirror look strange with our tiny stools?” or
“should we really have made our dead dog into an animal skin rug?’”

ew but come on that rug is tiny!  what kind of animal could it have come from???

i constantly over analyze and second guess myself as a designer.  and then i see pictures like this and wonder, how sure was she???

i wasn’t there when the photographer took these pictures.  if i had been you know that UGLY fake tree would have been in the trash.  i feel like it ruins the pictures.  i hate what it does to the other green colors in the space.  nothing i can do about it now.

rihanna has been weirding me out for a while now but this just takes the cake.  i don’t know about you but i’m scared.

then about 3 weeks ago another piece was posted!  it was out of my price range ($699) & about 1.5 hours away from atl so i waited.  the following week it went down to $599.  then this past week it went down to $499 so i jumped! 

they offered me $450 + $50 for delivery.  considering i had no idea how i was going to get it from athens, GA to atl i took the deal!  the unfortunate part is that i gave this consignment shop authorization to charge my credit card $500 on something i have never seen.  i have never seen ANY pieces of brasilia furniture in person.  am i crazy???  homegirl is delivering it today.  it will make it’s home in our foyer.

idk if $500 was too much to pay for this piece but i figure, if i passed on this guy i could have to wait another 6 months or year+ to find another one.  me and this guy will be friends for years to come!

oh and btw – the overwhelming majority voted to stain the door so stained it was!  last night at 10pm…. first coat down.  thanks!

we wanted a wood door with glass without any window panes & we had only a couple of hours before places closed for the weekend.  we went to home depot; that was a joke.  we went to a salvaged door place which was super cool but no luck there either.  then we headed over to Builders Surplus.  they had exactly the door we wanted!  so now we had only 2 hours to find someone to come to the warehouse & pick the door up for us.  dads are great, aren’t they?

here’s the beauty!  this is actually the exterior side of the door.  it was unfinished so we applied 3 layers of Minwax Polyshades One Step Stain & Polyurethane.  so to my dilemma…  do we stain the interior side of the door or do we paint it white????

i know painting it white will look good but it’s obviously the expected choice & the safe choice.  plus there is already so much white with all the cabinets.  but is this dark door too much of a contrast?  will it look bad with white trim?  i can’t decide!

the door color looks really good with my dining room set.  it’s a pretty close match.

let’s see some examples, shall we?

so do i play it safe & paint it white or go bold & stain it???  i can always paint it white if i don’t like the stain but i can’t go back the other way.

i saw it this weekend.  it was, eh.  i mean, i enjoyed the movie and it was entertaining but it wasn’t as good as the first and it wasn’t the best thing i’ve ever seen.  anything with carrie, samantha, miranda, and charlotte is going to be fun in my book but the story line kinda sucks.  and i thought the fashion was a little forced.  every outfit that every girl wore looked like it was a $bajillion and would have taken 2 hours to pull together.  but whatever i forgive ya.

anyways to my point… carrie and big’s new condo!!!  i was drolling.  i’ve been looking for set photos and found these…

the foyer ↑  this is the pic i really was looking for… i love the height and scale of those lamps + that glamorous mirror.  at this point in the movie i was really only focused on the set design.  i think this has inspired me to go BIG for the lamps in our foyer.  i am buying a piece of brasilia furniture for the foyer this week… i’ll post about that later.

this condo looks like a perfect combo of big and carrie to me.  love that coffee table!  those chairs & that sofa are nice but not spectacular.  they were probably a $bajillion tho.

the bedroom wallcovering installation was so cool.  the walls have recessed panels but the wallcovering looks seamless and you can see there is molding or trim or something framing the panels.  very posh.  love that headboard.

but this morning i got to hear arnold give a speech!

i shot emory’s graduation this morning and he was the honorary degree recipient and speaker.  he was awesome!  he even gave us a “i’ll be back” and a ”hasta la vista baby.”  so far it was the highlight of my day week month. 

but for realz people, i have plans on showing you more of bf’s home renovation… design shit has really just been put on the back burner right now to moving and weddings and, let’s face it, spending time with my new bff arnold.  but i’ll be back.

after i unpack my life.  promise.
